The Foot Soldier

1. I consider that the audience is resposible for determining the accuracy and context of the image. Hudson gave us the perfect example of how all the people were fighting for their rights and provides a historical photo that allows the audience to recreate the ideal context. The image tells us about a powerful story but is not telling the truth. Unquestionably, the people and the audience interprete that picture as a strong issue in the south in the south of the United States. The audience has a significant role because they are free to think about thousand of things that happens, without knowing the real story behind the picture.

2. From my point of view, artistic and historical representation can hel us to have a better comprehend of a particular histoical context. However, I do not believe that can be significant ina large way, because most of them cannot describe such a critical historical moment. They can recreate or tell something, like Hudson photography, but most of them have different point of views, and some people percieve that event in another way.

3. The most impressive thing for me is that the photographer was not involved in the civil right movement. When the interviewer turned out, he was not interested in civil rights movement is incredible. He was not at the protest because of any allegiance to or interest in the movement. He was just skipping school and was curious about the spectacle. In addition, when his parents saw the picture in the paper the next day, and they were angry at him for being downtown when he should be at school. And as for the moment in the photo itself, Hudson said thet the police officer was far for being an aggressor, and was trying to hold back his dog. So the story behind the image is really fascinating.

4. This podcast has changed my outlook as a photographer and as a consumer of photographs in a big way. For instance, being a photographer is a world where you expect the unexpected. Without a doubt, the most outstanding pictures come when we do not wish them. On the other hand, being a consumer can be crucial because some of them can reflect a completely different idea the photographer was thinking about; percieving the photo or understanding in another way can turn it into a powerful or weak photo.
